Detroit Lions
The Legend Begins
Drafted in 2007 the 2nd overall pick to the Detroit Lions, Johnson earned the moniker “Megatron” for being the most dominant receiver of his era. Johnson’s relentless worth ethic, control of his attitude and efforts constantly put him in position to grasp any opportunities at hand. Johnson’s use of the practice of visualization enhanced and enabled him to make the plays that made him a human highlight reel.
A Decade of Dominance
In the 2010s decade, Johnson made six consecutive Pro Bowls (2010-15), four consecutive AP All-Pro selections (2010-2013), three straight AP First-Team All-Pro selections (2011-2013), led the NFL in receiving yards in consecutive seasons (2011-2012) and led the League in receptions in one season (2012).
A Season Like No Other
With 72 receiving yards against the Bears on Dec. 30, 2012, Calvin became the first player in NFL history to top 1,900 receiving yards in a season. Ending with 1,964 receiving yards and averaging 122.8 receiving yards per game, set the record for both in a single season.
Becoming Megatron
In September of 2007, Lions Pro Bowl WR Roy Williams said of rookie Calvin, ‘I’ve never seen anything like him. He’s big, strong, physical, fast guy. We call him Megatron.” The nickname stuck with Johnson throughout his career.
